Workshop Overview:

Dr. Lacter will be presenting on zoom and we will be meeting in person in Tempe, AZ.  This will be an opportunity to network while learning from an expert.  Many of our clients with dissociative symptoms have experienced familial or other types of ritual abuse and mind control. Dr. Lacter's knowledge is extensive in treating this population.

Workshop Objectives: 

  • Describe the nature of ritual abuse and mind control
  • Provide some tools to help recognize a history of this abuse in therapy clients
  • Provide basic principles and approaches for psychotherapy with victim-survivors

About the presenter:

Ellen Lacter, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist, registered play therapist and supervisor, past president of the California Association for Play Therapy, and was academic coordinator for the Play Therapy Certificate Program at University of California– San Diego Extension from 1998 to 2023. She has been an art therapist in various agencies since 1977 and a therapist in private practice since 1984. She has developed an object relations model for resolution of trauma with abused children using play, art, and other expressive therapies. She specializes in the treatment of dissociative disorders and trauma from ritualistic abuse and is an activist against extreme abuse.
